The Institute for History at Leiden University is offering a Fully funded PhD Position as part of the project “Epistemic Actors.” Focused on the role of Indonesian contributors in colonial knowledge production, this four-year position includes fieldwork in Indonesia and opportunities for teaching.
To be eligible, applicants must hold an RMA or MA in history or a related field with a high-quality MA thesis by the time of appointment. Candidates should have strong research and archival skills, familiarity with Indonesian history and/or the history of science, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Eligibility

- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The PhD scholarship is offered within the Institute for History, focusing on a case study related to anthropology or natural history as part of the “Epistemic Actors” project.
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold an RMA or MA in history or a related field by the time of appointment, with a high-quality MA thesis.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Indonesian history and/or the history of science and knowledge.
