Fully Funded RNTC Scholarships for Media and Communication Professionals in Netherlands, 2018

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides OKP and MSP scholarships for the RNTC courses for media and communications professionals from a variety of partner countries.

The RNTC training centre provides training for media professionals from all over the world: from journalists and programme-makers to social activists and communications professionals from non-governmental organisations.

Scholarship Description:

  • Applications Deadline: July 13, 2018
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available for Media and communication professionals.
  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study RNTC courses. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides OKP (formerly known as NFP) and MSP scholarships for the RNTC courses for media and communications professionals from a variety of partner countries.

Please note that the current application window is only open to OKP candidates and is restricted to the following 3 courses:

  1. Digital Engagement Bootcamp for Social Movers and Changers
  2. Producing Media to Counter Radicalisation
  3. Media Campaigns for Development and Social Change
  • Scholarship Award: The scholarships include a contribution towards the cost of living, the course fees, visa, travel and insurance. If applicable, the scholarship holder is expected to cover the difference between actual costs and the OKP or MSP scholarship amount.
  • Nationality: National and live and work in one of the countries in the Nuffic OKP list are eligible to apply.
  • Number of Scholarships: Numbers not given
  • Scholarship can be taken in the Netherlands

Eligibility for the Scholarship:

Eligible Countries: National and live and work in one of the countries in the Nuffic OKP list are eligible to apply.

Entrance Requirements: Apart from the RNTC course admission requirements, you need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for an OKP (formerly known as NFP) scholarship:

  • You are national and live and work in one of the countries in the Nuffic OKP list, which you can find here;
  • You must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development. Organisations that are considered to have their own means of staff development are for example: multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft), large national and/or a large commercial organisations, bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid), multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB), international NGOs (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);
  • You have an Employer’s Statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement;
  • You have an official and valid passport;
  • You do not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;
  • You have a Government Statement (only if applicable, please check this overview) that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established.

N.B. The OKP program has no age limit.

Apart from the RNTC course admission requirements, you need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for an MSP scholarship:

  • You are a national of and live and work in one of the following Middle East and North African (MENA) countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria*, Tunisia;
  • The MSP is ONLY open to applicants of Syrian nationality who are residing and working outside of Syria in one of the other selected MENA countries.
  • You must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development. Organisations that are considered to have their own means of staff development are for example: multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft), large national and/or a large commercial organisations, bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch Ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid), multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB), international NGOs (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);
  • You have an Employer’s Statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement;
  • You have an official and valid passport;
  • You do not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;
  • You have a Government Statement (only if applicable, please check this overview) that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established;
  • You are not over 45 years of age at the time of the scholarship application deadline.

English Language Requirements: Since English is the working language of our courses (unless stated otherwise), we need to be sure that your English is good enough. If you come from a country where English is the official/national language or if English was the language in which you undertook higher education, your spoken and written English will be good enough. In both these cases, you don’t need to give us any proof of proficiency.

In all other cases, we may ask for a certified statement from a recognised authority establishing your proficiency in spoken and written English. The required level of your command of English should be equivalent to a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 79-80 (internet-based) or 213 (computer-based), and 6 for IELTS. In case of doubt, we may conduct a telephone/Skype interview with you.

Application Procedure:

How to Apply: You can apply twice a year during an ‘application window’ to see if you are eligible for an OKP or MSP scholarship. There are many more applications than there are scholarships available. Therefore, it is important that you meet all of the RNTC criteria (see individual course pages) as well as the Nuffic criteria, which you can find at the bottom of this page.
