Georgetown University Joins EdX to offer Online Courses

EdX, the online learning initiative founded by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), declared today the addition of Georgetown University to its group of educational leaders who are focused on providing a category-leading, higher quality  education experience to the global online community.

Though  “Georgetown University is an excellent addition to EdX” , which aims on  focusing on  how to provide excellence in education with the help of EdX and also aims on increasing the quality and  core content which will lead in enhancing the skills of the students on various platforms.

“It is a privilege to partner with EdX and this extraordinary collection of universities,” said Dr. John J. DeGioia, President of Georgetown University. This aims at focusing continous excellence in higher education and also allows expanding the applications for research work and scholarship.

Offering innovative educational experience that prepares the next generation of global citizens to lead and make a difference in the world.

Students will altogether get different experiences through exposure to different faiths, cultures and beliefs and will also provide a series of Georgetown X courses to open platform and broadens the course offerings that are available on EdX.

Thus it also involves a deep history about the Georgetown on research and on the excellence in education with equal emphasis on the subjects viz: arts and sciences, foreign service, law, medicine, public policy, business, and nursing and health studies. Thus with its distinguished presence around the world including a School of Foreign Service campus in Qatar, shares with EdX a global perspective and a mission to expand educational opportunities.

Through EdX the X Universities will facilitate interactive education with an access to the internet which will focus on how the students will enhance their teaching and learning abilities by doing a research on  how students will learn through technology that can facilitate effective teaching both on-campus and online.

The University of California, Berkeley joined EdX in July, the University of Texas System joined in October, and Wellesley College joined earlier in December.

According to MIT President L. Rafael Reif “It will bring important strength in many areas of scholarship and has long powerful voice in public life and discourse. Though  EdX community will benefit greatly as compared to what Georgetown will offer.”
