The Department of Media and Communication offers a funded Graduate Research Assistantship for September 2015 entry to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. Graduate Research Assistantship is available for UK/EU and International Applicants. The successful applicant will receive a full UK/EU tuition fee waiver for four years subject to annual progress review. The application deadline is 17 April 2015.

Study Subject(s): Studentship is awarded in the Department of Media and Communication. Possible of areas of research include: Political Communication, Visual Communication, Media and Social Movements. However, applicants with a research proposal in any of the following areas will also be considered: Radical Politics and the Public Sphere, Urban Studies and Digital Activisms.
Course Level: Studentship is available for pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme.

Eligibility:
-First class or upper second class undergraduate degree or an equivalent overseas qualification in media/communication studies or a relevant subject
-A Masters degree in media/communication studies or a relevant subject is desirable
-Research experience is desirable – e.g., through a previous degree or a professional context
-Standard English language requirements
-Available to suitable UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants – please note though that the award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only; international applicants (and those not eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees) must demonstrate at the time of their application that they can fund the difference in tuition fee rates
-Available for full-time registration only
-Applicants must be able to start in September 2015
-or show evidence of achieving this by September 2015

This Graduate Research Assistantship is available for full-time registration. The successful applicant will receive a full UK/EU tuition fee waiver for four years subject to annual progress review. The successful applicant will receive an annual stipend of £9,901 and salary of approximately £4,156. The successful applicant will also have access to a Research Training Support Grant worth £750 each year to help cover costs associated with their research work.
