The Physician Partnerships Trust is inviting medical specialists who wish to further pursue an academic career to apply for the Professor Bongani Mayosi Netcare Clinical Scholarship for 2019.

The Scholarship will be awarded to a clinical specialist or sub-specialist for doctoral or post-doctoral research to be conducted in South Africa only.

Eligibility

•  South African citizenship;
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a medical
  specialist or sub-specialist;
• Preference will be given to applicants who are identified in the country’s employment equity objectives; and
• Recipients of the Scholarship must commit to signing a contract binding them to work in South Africa for a minimum period of 3 (three) years following the end of the funding period, failing which they will be liable to pay back the full amount of the Scholarship to the Trust.

How to Apply

APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:

• A 1-2 page letter of motivation which should include the number of funds required per annum for the full-time research;
• A 1-2 page summary of the rationale, design, and feasibility of the proposed doctoral or post-doctoral research project. (Please provide evidence that funding for the project has been secured, and that facilities and equipment are available in addition to the scholarship award);
• A full curriculum vitae outlining their research experience and a list of publications;
• Testimonials from three referees, one of whom should be the supervisor of the doctoral or post-doctoral research project; and
• To obtain and submit a brief curriculum vitae of the Supervisor and this should outline the supervisors’ research experience and publications.
