HDR Scholarship in Embedding Net Zero Carbon Emissions, Australia

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Open to domestic (including Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents) and international candidates

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD project within the discipline of Anthropology and/or Science and Technology Studies (STS) focusing on the net zero carbon emissions agenda.

  • Admissible Criteria:

    • Meet Deakin University’s PhD entry requirements

    • Be enrolling full-time

    • Hold an Honours degree (first class) or a Master’s degree with a substantial research component

    • Demonstrated interest in ethnographic research, renewable energy, oil and gas, and/or emissions abatement policy

    • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in northern Australia.

Benefits

  • Stipend of $35,550 per annum (tax exempt, 2025 rate) for 3 years

  • Relocation allowance of $500 to $1,500 (single to family) for interstate students

  • International students only:

    • Tuition fees offset for up to 4 years

    • Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the student visa
