The University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is one of the most prestigious institutions in the world for music and performing arts education. Established in 1817, it has evolved from a conservatory into a full-fledged university, officially gaining university status in 1998.  MDW comprises25 departments, including specialized schools like the Max Reinhardt Seminar and the Vienna Film Academy.
