International PhD Fellowships in Atmospheric Chemistry, Denmark

The University of Copenhagen’s Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce a PhD fellowship in Atmospheric Chemistry, focusing on the formation processes of highly oxygenated molecules in the atmosphere. This prestigious fellowship, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, aims to advance our understanding of the oxidation of volatile organic compounds, which is crucial for comprehending aerosol particle formation that impacts both human health and climate.

To be eligible for the integrated scholarship, you are (or are eligible to be) enrolled at one of the faculty’s master programmes in Chemistry. Students on the integrated programme will enroll as PhD students simultaneously with completing their enrollment in this MSc degree programme.

Eligibility

Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from all countries
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Option A: For the regular PhD programme (5+3 scheme), applicants must have completed a degree programme equivalent to a Danish master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or Physics.
  • Option B: For the integrated MSc and PhD programme (3+5 scheme), applicants must have a degree equivalent to a Danish bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Documented experience in atmospheric chemistry lab work.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong motivation and interest in combining physical chemistry methods with atmospheric science.

  • A PhD grant portion of DKK 6,820 per month.
  • Salary according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State (AC) after obtaining the MSc degree.
