International Postdoctoral Position in Hydrological Modelling, Netherlands

Wageningen University & Research is pleased to announce an International Postdoctoral Position in Hydrological Modelling within the Soil Physics and Land Management chair group. This position is part of project RESTARTIN, focusing on integrated water disaster management strategies in collaboration with Dutch and Indian partners.

This scholarship is open to applicants from all nationalities who hold a PhD in hydro(geo)logy, environmental sciences, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in an international research environment.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject related to hydrological modelling offered by the Soil Physics and Land Management chair group.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold a PhD degree in hydro(geo)logy, environmental sciences, or equivalent.
  • Possess strong and broad conceptual and methodological knowledge of hydrology at the soil-water-plant and watershed scales, including relevant numerical models (e.g., HEC-HMS/RAS, SWMM, HBV, SWAT, SHE, VIC, MODFLOW, CATHY, HGS, FEFLOW, DSSAT, etc.), and model calibration/validation techniques.
  • Have in-depth experience with GIS packages (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Have experience with scripting in R, MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, etc.
  • Demonstrate experience in scientific writing, conducting research, and have a publication record in hydrology.
  • Be able to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks, including making independent decisions on implementation details.
  • Possess a C1 level of English proficiency.
