Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Citizens of all countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is awarded for eligible STEM programmes (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) offered by Karlstad University at the bachelor’s or master’s level.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
    • Be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
    • Have applied for an eligible STEM bachelor’s or master’s programme at Karlstad University starting in autumn 2026.
    • Have paid the application fee at University Admissions (unless exempt).
    • Submit all required scholarship documents: Transcript of Records, CV (max 3 pages), Motivation Letter (max 500 words), Passport copy, and optional reference letters.

Applicants are NOT eligible if they:
• Have lived in Sweden for more than two years at the start of the scholarship period.
• Hold a permanent residence permit or work permit in Sweden.
• Already hold a Swedish master’s degree.
• Have previously received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute or similar Swedish funding body.

  • Apply for an eligible programme: Submit your application through www.universityadmissions.se during the national application period.
  • Pay the application fee: Ensure your programme application is complete, including payment of the application fee (unless exempt).

  • Submit the scholarship application:
    • The online scholarship application form will be published on Karlstad University’s website on 16 January 2026.
    • Upload all required documents and submit the form within the deadline.
    • Only complete applications submitted through the official link will be considered.
