Melbourne Social Equity Institute PhD Scholarships, Australia

 The Melbourne Social Equity Institute at the University of Melbourne is pleased to announce the availability of up to three Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships for candidates interested in undertaking doctoral research on social equity issues, commencing in 2025.

To be eligible for the Melbourne Social Equity Institute Doctoral Research Scholarships, applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents, and must be accepted into a PhD program at the University of Melbourne.

Eligibility

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
    • Australian or New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident
    • Acceptance into a PhD program at the University of Melbourne
    • Available to commence studies in 2025
    • Completed tertiary studies equivalent to a 4-year honours degree with a minimum result equivalent to a first-class Honours (80%). For underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, a second-class Honours Division A (75%) is acceptable.
    • Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, independent work, teamwork, and communication skills
    • Strong research idea with agreement from a supervisor or team of supervisors.

    • Include a Curriculum Vitae (up to 2 pages), brief research proposal (up to 4 pages), academic transcripts, evidence of in-principle support from a proposed supervisor, and Masters/Honours thesis examiners’ reports (if applicable).
