MMus Music & Culture Scholarships in Ireland

The School of Music at University College Dublin (UCD) is delighted to announce six partial fee waiver Scholarships for students applying to the MMus in Music and Culture programme for the academic year 2025/2026.

To be eligible, you must apply to the programme, applicants should have a complete application or an offer (including conditional offers) by the deadline. Scholarships are awarded based on your previous academic performance.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for the MMus in Music and Culture programme in one of the following specializations:

    • Historical Musicology (Harry White Scholarships)

    • Ethnomusicology

    • Composition and Practice-Based Research

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Submit a complete application to the MMus in Music and Culture programme.

    • Have a status of “Application Complete,” “Offer,” “Conditional Offer,” “Accept,” or “Conditional Accept” by the application deadline.

    • Demonstrate strong academic performance in previous studies.

    • Intend to attend the programme in person (remote participation is not permitted).

How to Apply

  • There is no separate application for the scholarship. All eligible candidates who apply for the MMus in Music and Culture and receive an offer (or conditional offer) by the deadline will be automatically considered.

  • Applications must be submitted through UCD’s standard graduate admissions process.

  • Candidates will be notified of the outcome by Friday 20th June 2025.

  • A mandatory online information event about the programme and scholarships will take place on Thursday 29th May at 15:00 (Irish Time) via Zoom. Registration is required.

Benefits

  • Non-EU students will receive a €5,000 fee waiver.

  • EU students (including Ireland) will receive a €2,000 fee waiver.

  • The scholarship amount will be directly deducted from the recipient’s UCD tuition fee account.

  • Awards are distributed across three strands:

    • 2 x Harry White Scholarships in Historical Musicology

    • 2 x School of Music Scholarships in Ethnomusicology

    • 2 x School of Music Scholarships in Composition and Practice-Based Research
