Wageningen University & Research (WUR) invites applications for a PhD Position in Ecological, Molecular, and Genetic Aspects of Nematode-Phage Hitchhiking. This interdisciplinary project explores how soil phages travel with nematodes, impacting microbial interactions, soil biodiversity, and nutrient cycling.

Candidates must hold a MSc in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related life science, with interest and experience in sequencing approaches and bioinformatics. Experience with phage virology or C. elegans is a plus. Strong English skills (C1 level) are required.

    • Demonstrate interest and some experience in sequencing approaches and bioinformatics.

    • Have experience with (phage) virology or the model nematode C. elegans (preferred).

    • Show the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.

    • Possess excellent written and spoken English skills (C1 level).
