PhD Position in Legitimacy of Water-Management Models, Netherlands

Wageningen University & Research is looking for a motivated PhD candidate to join the LEGIT project, examining the legitimacy of water management models from multiple perspectives. The studentship is designed for the academic session 2024/2025.

The study award is open to applicants worldwide who hold a completed or nearly completed MSc or MA degree in critical social sciences, such as Political Ecology or Science and Technology Studies. Candidates should demonstrate a strong motivation for interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with natural scientists, and an interest in the role of computer models in decision-making.

Eligibility

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD program in fields related to critical social sciences, such as Political Ecology, Science and Technology Studies, or similar disciplines.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Hold a completed MSc or MA degree in critical social sciences or a related field.
    • Exhibit strong motivation for interdisciplinary research and collaboration with natural scientists.
    • Have a keen interest in exploring the role of computer models in decision-making processes.
    • Be willing to conduct fieldwork in the Netherlands, the US, and Australia.
    • Possess good organizational and communication skills.
    • Preferably, have experience or affinity with coding, modeling, and/or water management or governance.
    • Demonstrate English language proficiency at a C1 level, with certification if required.
