Eligibility

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: This PhD scholarship will be awarded within the field of social sciences and humanities, focusing on tourism and cultural memory, offered by the Cultural Geography Chair Group at Wageningen University & Research.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
    • Hold a MA/MSc degree in social sciences or humanities, preferably in fields like cultural geography, tourism studies, anthropology, cultural studies, heritage studies, memory studies, or related disciplines. (Applicants finishing their master’s degree may apply but are subject to NUFFIC’s independent eligibility assessment.)
    • Demonstrate experience with fieldwork research in relevant locations (Ghana, Angola, Namibia, Suriname, Brazil, Netherlands, Portugal, or Germany)
    • Possess strong qualitative research skills, analytical abilities, and a clear and persuasive writing style.
    • Have excellent verbal and written proficiency in English (C1 level) and knowledge of another relevant language (Dutch, Portuguese, or German) needed for field studies.
