The ERC-funded project SINOFANTASY – Fantasy fiction across the Chinese mediasphere explores the development, impact, and cultural significance of contemporary Chinese fantasy fiction. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct independent research within this framework, focusing on media, fandom, platforms, and cultural practices in China, while also contributing to collaborative research outputs, events, and outreach activities.

  • PhD in Media Studies, Cultural Anthropology, Chinese Studies, or a closely related discipline

  • Familiarity with the contemporary Chinese media landscape

  • Proven research experience in new media and digital platforms

  • Strong command of modern Chinese and academic English (C1 level or above)

  • Ability to work in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments

  • Assets include fieldwork and empirical research experience.
