The University of Gothenburg is inviting applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Plant Evolutionary Genomics at the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences. The project explores the legacy of human disturbance on biodiversity in tropical forests, focusing on genomic data, plant domestication, and ecosystem change.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a PhD in biology, botany, molecular biology, or a related field, have strong skills in plant genomics and bioinformatics, and be proficient in English. The PhD should normally be completed within the last three years, unless special circumstances apply.

Eligibility

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Hold a doctoral degree in biology, botany, molecular biology, or a relevant field.

    • Have excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

    • Possess knowledge in plant genomics, bioinformatics, and strong analytical skills (bash, R, Python, or similar platforms).

    • Be within three years of completing their doctoral degree (exceptions apply for special circumstances such as illness, parental leave, etc.).

Desirable qualifications include:

  • A strong track record of publications in plant evolutionary genomics, phylogenomics, or population genomics.

  • Experience with tropical plant systems, genomic lab techniques, or ancient/sedimentary DNA.

  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students.
