The University College London (UCL) is offering Research Excellence Scholarships for Cross-disciplinary Training for the academic session 2025/2026.
Eligibility for this scholarship requires applicants to be currently enrolled in an eligible full- or part-time MPhil/PhD or EngD program at UCL (excluding distance learning and professional doctorates). - Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to MPhil/PhD or EngD students in any discipline offered by UCL, provided they undertake cross-disciplinary research in a different department.
- Admissible Criteria:
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be currently registered at UCL on an eligible full- or part-time MPhil/PhD or EngD research programme (excluding distance learning and professional doctorates).
- Provide proof of guaranteed funding for the standard research years of their current degree.
- Be in the research phase of their current degree and paying tuition fees.
- Obtain written permission from funding bodies if applicable (e.g., UKRI-funded students).
How to Apply
Candidates must submit their application directly to their current academic department by the deadline (Friday, 10th January 2025). Applications should include the following documents:
- A training proposal outline.
- A detailed description of the cross-disciplinary training program.
- A full CV.
- A one-page outline of the research project.
- Proof of guaranteed funding.
- A letter signed by the heads of both the home and host departments certifying their agreement to the proposed training program and financial arrangements.
Benefits
The RXD scholarship covers full tuition fees (Home/Overseas), a maintenance stipend (£21,237 for full-time study in 2024/25), and a research cost allowance of up to £1,200. It is tenable for one academic year, beginning October 2025.
