The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) is now inviting applications for the Colonial Legacies Fellowship Scheme 2025. This fellowship supports innovative research into the Academy’s historical involvement in colonial and imperial enterprises, with a focus on the influence of empire on its members and collections.
The fellowship program is open to researchers of all nationalities with an interest in exploring the Royal Irish Academy’s historical links to colonial and imperial enterprises. Applicants must propose original research aligned with one of the two designated themes and demonstrate the ability to complete the project by July 2026. Fellows are also expected to participate in a 2027 conference and contribute to a published collection of proceedings.
