To make education accessible and affordable to its international students, the Justus Liebig University Giessen has established the SDGnexus Network Doctoral Scholarships for the academic year 2025-2026
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in a relevant field such as Geography, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Economics, Remote Sensing, or Geoinformatics. They should have experience or interest in land-use modeling, satellite imagery, and geospatial analysis, with programming skills (e.g., R, Python). Candidates must be citizens of ODA recipient countries, have completed their last degree within the past six years, and should not have stayed in Germany for more than 15 months (with some exceptions).

Experience in statistical analysis, land-use modeling, or remote sensing.

Programming skills (R, Python, STATA) and GIS proficiency.

Advanced English writing and communication skills.

Willingness or experience in conducting fieldwork.
