UCL Bartlett Promise PhD Scholarships in UK

The Bartlett Promise PhD Scholarship is now open for applications for the 2025/26 academic year. This scholarship supports UK-domiciled students and forced migrants from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue a PhD at The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment. It covers full tuition fees and provides an annual allowance of £21,237, along with academic and career support.

To be eligible for PhD Scholarship, applicants must be UK-domiciled with home fee status or a forced migrant, and must hold an offer to study a PhD programme at The Bartlett, UCL for the 2025/26 academic year. Additionally, candidates must not have previously completed a PhD. They must also meet at least one of several widening participation criteria, such as being from a low-income background, a BAME background, having a disability, being a care leaver, or being the first in their family to attend university.

    • Be UK domiciled with home fee status or a forced migrant (refugee, asylum seeker, or temporary leave status due to asylum/human rights application)

    • Have an offer of admission to a Bartlett PhD programme for the 2025/26 academic year

    • Must not have completed a PhD at UCL or any other institution

    • Additionally, applicants must meet at least one of the following:

      • Be in financial need (household income under £42,875)

      • Be from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background

      • Be from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community

      • Have a disability

      • Be a care leaver

      • Have care responsibilities

      • Be first generation in family to attend university at undergraduate or postgraduate level
