The employment is a Phd position for four years from 2017-01-15 or according to an agreement, with purpose to explore digital innovation and Internet of Things. The employment is placed at Umeå University, the Department of Informatics. Last day for application is 2016-11-21.
The digitization of our society is already ongoing but now it’s an increased focus of things digitized when they are linked up with the help of smart sensors, for example cars that communicate their status with the manufacturer, ventilation that is adapted to the presence in the room, and trash that signals need of emptying are different examples of applications that create new digital services in our world. The focus of this doctoral position is to explore Internet of things, the opportunities, challenges and effects for digital innovation. The position is linked to the research environment Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (www.scdi.se) at the Department of Informatics. The research at the center is carried out mainly in collaboration with partners from industry, research institutes and other universities and colleges. The position is also linked to the MIT Research School at Uppsala University where the PhD student will take a part of courses and doctoral seminars.
You will be employed and accepted as a PhD student at the department of Informatics, Umeå University. The employment is a full-time four year position. The employment can involve up 20% other activities within the department (as teaching). Your salary is determined in accordance to a stipulated scale for PhD positions. Starting date is 2017-01-15 or according to an agreement. Applicants will be placed at Umeå University, the Department of Informatics.

Basic eligibility for studies at the graduate level have those who have completed a degree on Master’s level, completed courses totaling at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits at advanced level, or have in some other way, in Sweden or abroad, acquired equivalent knowledge. To meet the requirement of special eligibility for admission to postgraduate education in informatics it is required that the applicant has undergraduate education in informatics of at least 90 credits, and 60 credits at advanced level in Informatics (Master level) or an education of comparable scope and depth. The requirements are considered fulfilled even by those who in other ways, in or outside the country, acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.
Because you will be joining a multicultural department, important other qualifications is good communication- and coordination skills and good qualifications in written and spoken english. Previous experience within research projects or work experience that involves change management, process studies and the introduction of information technology in organizations is a merit. When selecting among eligible applicants a great emphasis will be held on the ability to benefit from the program, previous study results and quality on the research proposal.
