UWA-China PhD Research Scholarships in Australia

The University of Western Australia (UWA), in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC), is inviting outstanding students from China to apply for the 2026 UWA-China PhD Research Scholarship. The scholarship provides full tuition coverage at UWA, plus a CSC package including living allowance, airfare, and health insurance.

To be eligible for Scholarship, applicants must be citizens of the People’s Republic of China and hold or be on track to complete a Master’s degree in China with a high academic standing (around 85% or above). They must meet UWA’s PhD admission and English language requirements, ensure their proposed research aligns with the academic priorities of both UWA and the China Scholarship Council, and secure written confirmation of supervision from a UWA academic staff member.

Eligibility

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
    • Hold a Masters degree (or be on track to complete in June 2026) from China with a weighted mark of ~85% or higher.
    • Meet UWA PhD course admission requirements (Handbook).
    • Meet English language requirements with valid test scores.
    • Demonstrate that proposed research aligns with CSC and UWA academic priority areas.
    • Provide written confirmation of supervision from a UWA academic staff member.
    Note: Applicants with only a Bachelors’ degree completed in China are not eligible. Incomplete applications or missing documentation by the deadline will not be considered.

How to Apply

  • Apply for Admission to UWA – Submit your PhD application and all required documents by 31 January 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  • Offer Letter from UWA – Successful applicants will receive an offer letter before 31 March 2026, which is required to apply for the CSC scholarship. If your home university requires an earlier offer, mention this in your application.

  • Selection by CSC – UWA will send the list of selected candidates to the China Scholarship Council (CSC) on 31 March 2026.

  • CSC Review – Between May and June 2026, CSC will review applications and announce scholarship winners. Results are expected by 30 June 2026.

  • Start PhD Studies – Scholarship recipients will begin their PhD at UWA from July 2026.
