Applications are invited for HMSA Kaimana Awards & Scholarship Program available for high school seniors graduating from a Hawaii high school in 2015. Applicants must have played on at least one school athletic team in a league-sanctioned sport during at least one of their high school years. Special consideration will be given to student athletes in lower-profile sports. Up to 15 exceptional students will be awarded a Kaimana Scholarship for the 2014-15 school year. The value of scholarship is $5,000. Recipients can use their scholarships to pay for college tuition, books, and room and board. The application deadline is February 13, 2015.

Scholarship Description: The HMSA Kaimana Awards & Scholarship Program honors high school seniors and their schools for excellence in athletics, academics, community service, healthy activities, and sportsmanship. There are two parts of the program:
-HMSA Kaimana Awards for schools: These awards recognize Hawaii high schools for all-around excellence in five categories. Schools compete within their own league and earn points in: Academics, Athletics, Community service, Healthy activities and Sportsmanship
-HMSA Kaimana Scholarships for student athletes: For student athletes, the HMSA Kaimana Scholarships reward those who not only shine in the classroom and the playing field, but also in their communities through volunteer work. Special focus is given to students who participate in lower-profile sports.
