Eligibility:
The programme is open to students from Germany as well as students from abroad. Applicants must hold a Master of Science (MSc) degree, or equivalent, in biology, biochemistry, biogeochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, bioinformatics, chemistry, or related fields.  The degree has to be conferred before the programme starts.

The International Max Planck Research School for Environmental, Cellular, and Molecular Microbiology in Marburg (IMPRS-Mic) in Germany offers fellowships for a three-year structured PhD program. Our graduate school is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and Philipps-Universität Marburg and is committed to outstanding and multidisciplinary scientific training in modern microbiology. We provide excellent research facilities in the fields of cellular microbiology, molecular microbiology, biochemistry, biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, plant-microbe interactions, and parasitology. Students broaden their individual PhD projects by joint seminars, lectures, workshops, international research conferences, and retreats. The program is taught in English.
