Languages and Intercultural Studies PhD Scholarships at Heriot-Watt University in UK, 2017

Heriot-Watt University PhD scholarships are awarded to the UK and international students on the basis of qualification and academic achievement. These scholarships are provided for pursuing research in Languages and Intercultural Studies for the academic year 2017-18 in the UK.

The aims of the Centre include the investigation of the nature of the process of translating and interpreting, as well as of their products.

Course Level: These Scholarships are available to pursue to pursue PhD programme.

 Study Subject: These Scholarships are awarded to pursue PhD programme in Languages and Intercultural Studies.

Scholarship Award: These Scholarships will cover the followings:

  • PhD fees for Home/EU students are £4,195 for full-time studies and £2,098 for part-time studies.
  • PhD fees for overseas students are £14,080 for full-time studies and £7,040 part-time studies.

 Number of scholarship: Three scholarships are available.

 Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for these scholarships:

  • All applications will be reviewed within the relevant department with a shortlisting decision made based on qualifications, the research proposal and the availability of a supervisory team.
  • Shortlisted applicants must have either the equivalent of a 1st class honours undergraduate degree or a Masters degree with an average mark of 65% or higher and a dissertation mark of 65% or higher.

 Nationality: Students are eligible from anywhere in the world.

 Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have either the equivalent of a 1st class honours undergraduate degree or a Masters degree with an average mark of 65% or higher and a dissertation mark of 65% or higher.

English Language Requirement: If you have not already studied a degree programme that was taught and examined in the medium of English we require evidence of language proficiency.   For IELTS: the minimum overall IELTS score is 6.5 with no score lower than 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
