Naropa University is a private university located in Boulder, Colorado. It was named after the 11th-century Indian Buddhist sage Naropa, an abbot of Nalanda, by Tibetan Buddhist teacher Chögyam Trungpa. Instead of calling itself Buddhist, the university describes itself as being inspired by Buddhism, ecumenical, and nonsectarian. In addition to traditional teaching methods, Naropa encourages non-traditional activities like meditation.

Why study at Naropa University? This is where experiential learning meets academic rigor. Where you challenge your intellect and unlock your potential. Where you discover the work you’re moved to do — then use it to transform the world. The On-Campus Counseling Center is dedicated to supporting the overall well-being and the transformational journey of all Naropa University students.
