National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) in UK, 2014

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is offering National teaching fellowship Scheme (NTFS) in UK. The fellowships are intended for national teaching fellows’ professional development in teaching and learning or aspects of pedagogy. The students of UK can apply for the fellowship. The purpose of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme is to recognise, reward and celebrate individuals who are judged to make an outstanding impact on the student learning experience and provide the means to develop a proactive community of National Teaching Fellows (NTFs). Up to 55 awards of £10,000 are made to recognize individual excellence. The application deadline is 14th January 2014.

Eligibility: –Both Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE) institutions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland may participate in the Scheme.
-Staff are eligible to be nominated to NTFS under various contracts including part-time, full-time, and non-permanent (fixed-term). All staff should note that funds will be administered by their nominating institution and subject to the rules of transfer as outlined in the Key Points on the Management of the NTF Award document.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of UK can apply for the fellowship (Eligible institutions are invited to nominate up to three individual members of staff).

Scholarship Description: The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme recognizes and rewards excellent learning and teaching and is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW), and the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland (DELNI). It is open to directly-funded higher education institutions and further education colleges in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. A full list of eligible institutions is provided each year when nominations open. Eligible institutions are invited to nominate up to three individual members of staff who clearly demonstrate excellence in teaching and/or supporting the higher education learning experience of students. In nominating these individuals, institutions are strongly encouraged to consider the full diversity of roles that support the student learning experience.

What does it cover? Up to 55 awards of £10,000 are made to recognize individual excellence.

Selection criteria: The fellowships will be awarded on basis of Individual excellence, raising the profile of excellence and developing excellence. All nominees will be assessed on evidence provided in the core nomination documents in relation to each of the three criteria listed below.

Notification: All nominees will be informed of the outcome via email on Thursday 22 May 2014. The latter will also be copied to senior representatives of the nominating institution. A condition of the competition is that nominees do not share news of their success before Thursday 12 June 2014 in order to ensure maximum publicity. The names of the Award winners will be officially announced on Thursday 12 June 2014on the Academy’s website.

How to Apply: Eligible institutions are invited to nominate up to three individual members of staff. Nominations should comprise the related documents, each as a separate Word document and should be submitted electronically.
