SAW CENTRE BBA FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP National University of SingaporeTenure of Award

1. The scholarship is awarded by Saw Centre for Financial Studies. It is tenable only for two regular semesters. The scholarship recipient must pursue between 32 to 40
modular credits in the two semesters of award.

Value of Award

2. Each scholarship is valued at S$8,000 for successful applicants who are pursuing finance as a specialization at the NUS Business School.

Bond

3. There is no bond attached to the scholarship.
Selection 4. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Executive Committee of Saw Centre for Financial Studies, comprising :

(a) Patron of Saw Centre
(b) Director of Saw Centre
(c) Head of Department of Finance and Accounting, School of Business

Selection Criteria

5. The selection is based on the applicants’ academic record and any other criteria that
may be determined by the Executive Committee of Saw Centre.

Withdrawal of Award

6. The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the Saw Centre, the performance or conduct of the scholarship recipient has not been satisfactory.

Other Awards

7. Scholarship recipients may not, without the prior approval of Saw Centre and the respective awarding body, concurrently hold any other award, scholarship,
fellowship or free aid. Scholarship recipients who are in receipt of the NUS financial aid package have to seek approval from the Student Financial Aid Unit, Registrar’s
Office for waiver of the non-concurrent holding condition.

Application Criteria

8. Students may apply at the following juncture:
(i) for students in the BBA programme, upon attaining at least 80 modular credits
(ii) for students in the BBA Honours programme, upon attaining at least 80 modular credits and/or 120 modular credits Re-application is necessary if a scholarship recipient who is pursuing a BBA Honours programme wishes to be considered again for the award.

The applicant must:
(a) be a Singapore Citizen
(b) be an undergraduate at the School of Business
(c) have the intention to read all the required modules under the finance specialization
(d) have completed at least 17 business programme requirement

modules
(e) have completed the three essential modules (FNA3101 Corporate Finance, FNA3102 Investment Analysis and FNA3103 Financial Markets) either at the time of application or by the end of the first semester of receiving the scholarship The above application criteria may be amended to take into consideration future changes in the curriculum.

Applications

9. The scholarship will be open for application in March for award starting from Semester 1 and October for award starting from Semester 2. The announcement will
be made nearer the date.

Applications must be submitted, not later than the closing date stipulated by Saw Centre, with the following supporting documents:

(a) A recent passport sized photograph of the applicant
(b) Certified true copies of education certificates
(c) Certified true copies of records of all University academic results
(d) Certified true copies of CCA records
(e) Two referee reports

Closing Date
11. The closing date for application is 31 May for award starting from Semester 1 in August. The closing date for application is 31 December for award starting from Semester 2 in January. Students who are reading modules towards the fulfillment of the application criteria at the time of application must immediately furnish their grades when the academic results are released, and no later than the stipulated closing date.

Mid June to End June 2007 – Interviews
Early July 2007 – Scholarship recipient(s) selected
End July 2007 – Agreement signed
August 2007 – Disbursement of scholarship funding

October to 31 December – Submission of applications
Early January to Mid January – Review of applications
Mid January to End January – Interviews
Early February – Scholarship recipient(s) selected
End February – Agreement signed
March – Disbursement of scholarship funding

Rejection of Applications
12. Saw Centre reserves the right to reject applications that are incomplete or inaccurately completed, and have the full discretion in administering the scholarship.
