Applications are invited for The Swire Hong Kong PhD Scholarship in Marine Biology. This scholarship is open to outstanding higher degree candidates wishing to conduct research for a PhD degree at The Swire Institute of Marine Science.
The candidate will undertake research on any aspect of marine biology in Hong Kong and South East Asia under the supervision of a member of staff at The Swire Institute of Marine Science (see http://www.hku.hk/swims/). The successful candidate will also take up occupancy in the SWIMS Residence.

( votes)The Scholarship shall be tenable for either 3 or 4 years, depending on the candidates’ qualifications. The successful candidate will receive a monthly stipend of HK$13,100, plus an associated research grant of HK$25,000 per annum.
How to Apply
Candidates wishing to apply should initially contact a member of staff at SWIMS to draft a research proposal for their study. This should be less than 6 pages of A4, inclusive of references and tables/figures. The proposal should highlight the area of study, the questions being addressed and the importance/relevance of their proposed research. This should be submitted, together with a full CV, including the names and addresses of two referees to Ms Sylvia Yiu, The Swire Institute of Marine Science, The University of Hong Kong, Shek O, Hong Kong (fax: + 852 28092197; email: [email protected]).

I’m Mr. Sujit Krishna Das, Post Graduated in Marine Sciences, Institute of Marine Sciences, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh obtaining 65% marks(1st class).I have been engaged in the sector for the last three years especially in Coastal Aquaculture. I have experienced in black tiger shrimp hatchery operation, shrimp feed formulation and also shrimp culture management. I wish to complete my PhD course with the help of SWIRE in the field of commonly diseases in shrmp and prawn that causing svere economic loss of the pro poor shrimp farmers in the coastal belt of Bangladesh.
