    I am a lecturer in Animal and Range Sciences Department of Hawassa University, Ethiopia. I did my MSc thesis research work on tropical rangeland assessment and evaluation at Alemaya University, Ethiopia. Before joining Hawassa University as an academic staff, I worked in Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute as a researcher. In my involvement in different research activities, I had been able to publish five articles on refereed journals and eleven articles in conference proceedings. Pastoral systems being one of the most important farming systems in Ethiopia, I am highly interested to pursue my doctoral study on the analysis of pastoral grazing management systems and the ecology of bush encroachment (and impact of climate change on livestock production).     5. Development Project Officer Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (OXFAM)in the Red Sea Province, for six months, 1986. The Officer was working with pastoralists Beja ethnic group in the Red Sea Province, Sudan. Responsibility is to see OXFAM rehabilitation and development projects in the Red Sea Area. These
    responsibilities envisaged as:
    a. A Government restocking project in a pilot area. The Officer evaluated the project and directed research to see it is applicability to other areas of the Province and implements if possible and suggests other forms of follow – up.
    b. To see the possibility of various small projects in agro-pastoral area with forest resources. The officer directed and participated in continuing research and implementation of projects.
    c. Low technology water projects, the officer implemented a dry stone well lining projects and looked for possibilities of appropriate water resources.
    d. The Officer has managed a Vitamin A distribution project in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.
    6. Worked in a number of grassroots development projects of the Area Development Schemes (ADS), funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in the Sudan, 1988 – 1992.

    A. National Consultant and National Animator:
    Terms of reference performed:
    a) Identification of traditional community structures and organisation, population, resource and development geography.
    b) Completed a field survey of community needs on the basis of participation techniques.
    c) Initiated a community based process leading to the preparation, through traditional community – management structures, of suitable local community animators and their organisation in local infra-structures to help with project formulation, implementation

    d) Trained and Helped the communities in the planning, implementation and management of a small number of practical, pilot’ confidence building development activities in response to some of their urgent identified

    g. Identified areas of potential interventions that contribute to achievement of programme/project outputs.

    i. Identified the bottlenecks that obstruct the smooth implementation and suggest remedial measures.
    j. Finally, assessed programme effectiveness and identify opportunities for new projects.

    a) Lead and supervised and trained a community development team to come up with community based problems and project proposals.

ECONOMICS From HARAMAYA UNIVERSITY Ethiopia.I’m glad to learn that the Masters Degree course in Rural Development or any agr-Economics related fields/NR AND ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS, DEVELOPMENTAL ECONOMICS etc/ at u’r university. This is a good strategy towards empowering the under developed countries as well.
