OSCE Master and Doctoral Scholarships for Serbian Citizens, 2017/2018

Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is pleased to offer Master and Doctoral Scholarships for the 2017/2018 Academic Year. Serbian citizens are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

The purpose of the project is to further enhance the principles of good governance within the armed forces and consolidate the democratic character of civilian-military relations in Serbia.

The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental and human aspects. It, therefore, addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue Master and Doctoral degree programme.

Study Subject: Only students applying for the following master courses will be considered for the scholarships:

  • Faculty of Political Sciences: MA in Political Science – International Studies,
    module: International Security
  • Faculty of Political Sciences: MA in Political Science – International Studies,
    Regional Master’s Studies in Peace Studies (1 scholarship)
  • Faculty of Security Studies, Master’s degree studies

Scholarship Award: For the 2017-2018 academic year the OSCE Mission will administer up to 10 scholarships for one-year master studies and up to 3 scholarships for three-year PhD studies.

Scholarship can be taken in Serbia

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

All applicants for the scholarship program must be Serbian citizens.

Nationality: Serbian citizens are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

How to Apply: Application procedure:

Master Scholarships

  • All candidates are required to apply at their respective faculties for one of the sponsored courses in parallel to applying for the scholarship through a regular procedure (please consult respective faculties for details). Only the candidates formally accepted by the Faculties for one of the sponsored study programs will be eligible for scholarships.
  • Candidates should send their application by email to scholarships-at-osce.org, not later than Monday, 28 August 2017, with the email subject line “Application for MA scholarship 2017.”
  • Applications must be submitted in English and include the following:
  • Curriculum Vitae, highlighting the candidate’s professional achievement and leadership potential;
  • Letter of Motivation highlighting the candidate’s career and academic plans and their relevance for security sector reform in Serbia
  • Example of written work in English (published or made just for the occasion of the call);
  • The OSCE Mission to Serbia will invite the best applicants to an oral interview by mid-September. Applicants will be contacted only if invited for the interview.
  • The OSCE Mission to Serbia will create a final list of sponsored applicants upon receiving confirmation from the respective faculties that they have been accepted to one of the sponsored study programs.

Doctoral Scholarships

  • All candidates are required to apply at the respective faculties for doctoral studies in parallel to applying for the scholarship through a regular procedure (please consult respective faculties for details). Only the candidates formally accepted by the Faculties for one of the sponsored study programs will be eligible for scholarships.
  • Candidates already enrolled in doctoral studies that have successfully completed the first year of doctoral studies are also eligible and may apply.
  • Candidates should send their application by email to scholarships-at-osce.org, not later than Monday, 28 August 2017, with the email subject line “Application for PhD scholarship 2017.”
  • Applications must be made in English and consist of:
  • Curriculum Vitae, highlighting candidate’s professional achievement and leadership potential;
  • Motivational letter, highlighting candidate’s career and academic plans and their relevance for security sector reform in Serbia
  • Example of written work in English (published or made just for the occasion of the call);
  • The OSCE Mission to Serbia will invite the best applicants to an oral interview by the end of September. Applicants will be contacted only if invited for the interview.
