PhD fellowship (Ref-No. 40/2008)
in the research groups of Dirk Bossemeyer, Mechanisms of Biomolecular Interaction DKFZ, Heidelberg and Richard A. Engh, The Norwegian Structural Biology Center, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Tromsö, Norway, Richard.Engh@chem.uit.no
A PhD research position funded by the Norwegian Research Council is available starting immediately at the University of Tromsø, Norway. The student will study structural selectivity determinants of protein kinase ligands and ramifications for anticancer drug design methods. The work will involve co-crystallization studies across a panel of protein kinases validated by studies that focus on key drug target kinases.
The 4 year PhD position will be based at the Department of Chemistry and the Norwegian Structural Biology Center Norstruct. The project will involve a 6-12 month stay at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany, and close collaboration with the medical faculty in Tromsø, other Norwegian universities, the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Munich, Germany, and the ETH in Zurich.
Ihr Profil: Candidates for the positions should have experience in protein chemistry and molecular biology. Training in crystallography and/or medicinal chemistry is advantageous.
The PhD position is paid according to the Norwegian state salary scales at approximately NOK 300000 per year, respectively.
