Eligibility:
To apply for this position, you should have a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, or similar, with high grades in the core courses. You should have experience in digital communications or signal processing. Strong math and programming skills are essential. Experience with sensor networks or general wireless networks is a plus, as are first-author publications in international conferences or journals.

Scholarship Description: The research area for the post-doc is Human Factors and Driver Behaviour. The applicant will become part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative project between Division Design & Human Factors and Fluid Dynamics at Chalmers. Another project partner will be the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI). The position will last for two years, with an as immediate start as possible. Active vehicle safety is a very important research area within the automotive industry as well as at many universities around the world. During the last decades several advanced safety systems have been developed and launched commercially, for instance Electronic Stability Control (ESC). However, the development of such types of systems is still hampered by the lack of knowledge of driver behaviour in safety critical situations and in particular the interaction of driver and driver support systems. From a human factors perspective, the overall aim of this post-doc project is to develop further knowledge on the driver ’ s performance when being exposed to and the driver’s experience of such situations as transient side winds and light impacts after collisions. Anticipated outcomes are further knowledge on driver performance when exposed to transient side winds etc: characteristics of measures for the driver to (re)gain control, and the effect of driver safety systems on driver’s performance. The anticipated outcomes also include further knowledge on the design of simulator experiments.
