Merit Cum-Means Based Scholarship Scheme of Government of India for Minority
Communities Students for the Year 2008-09
The Government of India has started the Merit-cum Means Based Scholarship scheme to the students belonging to the Minority Communities from academic year 2007-08. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students to enable them to
pursue professional and technical courses. These scholarships are available for studies in India only
and will be awarded through State Government for this purpose. Financial assistance will be given to pursue degree and/or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution.
Maintenance allowance will be credited to the student’s account. The course fee will be paid by the State Department directly to the institute concerned.
The applications, in prescribed proforma on available website only, are invited for Renewal of Scholarship as well as New Scholarship from the eligible candidates for year 2008-09

Conditions for availing Scholarship are as follows:
i) The course must be Professional /Technical. Detailed list of courses is available on website under scholarship Section.
ii) The admission to the courses should be on the basis of a competitive examination. If not, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary
(HSC)/graduation level. The merit is decided on HSC aggregate marks for undergraduate courses and that of undergraduate percentage marks for Post Graduate
Courses.
iii) Continuation/renewal of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
iv) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail
any other scholarship/stipend/fee concession for pursuing the course.
v) The annual income (from all sources) of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.
vi) An INDIAN national student permanent resident of MAHARASHTRA will be entitled for scholarship under the quota of MAHARASHTRA, irrespective of his place of study in India.

Pharmacy (B. Pharm / M. Pharm.)
Architecture & Town Planning ( UG and PG Courses)
Hotel Management & Catering Technology
Applied Art & Crafts
Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
Design ( Degree from National Institute of Design , Ahmedabad)
Medical & Paramedical Courses
Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry
Law ( LLB / LLM)Schedule for New Scholarship application:
1.Submission of completed Application along with required documents form by the candidate to the institute where he/she is studying.

2.Submission of the All Candidates Application Form by the Institute to the Nodal Officer, Maharashtra State

3. Display of Religion, UG/PG, Gender wise Provisional Merit List of eligible Candidates on website www.dte.org.in
1 Nov 2008
4. Submission of Grievances, if Any, through institute
5 Nov 2008
5. Display of Final Merit-cum-Selection list
10 Nov 2008
The documents required along with the application are as follows:
i)One copy of latest passport size color photograph with signature
ii) Attested certificates of educational qualification as filled up in para 11.
iii)Income declaration – affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs. 50/- and income certificate from the employer (in prescribed proforma) [ to be submitted after
provisional selection]
iv) Proof of permanent residence – Domicile Certificate / Ration Card
v)Receipt in acknowledgment of scholarship in the previous year duly countersigned by the head of the institution(for Renewal of scholarship only)
The provisional selected candidates list shall be submitted to the Government of India and details schedule for disbursement shall be published on website only.
The Application sent by HAND/COURIER/SPEED POST/RPAD/POST through Institute and reached to the Nodal Officer only in scheduled date, shall be considered for processing.
Candidate should not send the application to the other authorities.
The details regarding generating merit list, reservation for ladies, selection of religion wise candidate from UG/PG courses is available on website.
The institute are directed to follow the guidelines of the Scheme. The concern Directorates /University Authorities are requested to disseminate the awareness of this scheme to the targeted
students.
