The Department of Political and Cultural Change of the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn invites applications for student assistantship position in Germany. Writing and speaking skills are required in English and knowledge of Russian and/or Uzbek would be of an advantage. Applicant must be enrolled in masters degree at German University. Female candidates will be preferred. Application must be submitted by 30th September 2013.

Study Subject(s): The assistantship will be awarded in Improving Risk Assessment Strategies for Public Health Care in Uzbekistan.

Eligibility:– Coordination skills to liaise with project partners in Uzbekistan and in Germany.
– Very good speaking and writing skills in English.
– Knowledge in the application of data analysis (such as SPSS/STATA) and/or ArcGIS is preferable.
– Knowledge of Russian and/or Uzbek would be of an advantage.
-The position is only open for Master students who are currently enrolled in a German University.

Scholarship Description: HEALTHCAP is a science-based capacity building project to improve risk assessment strategies to address the growing threat from water-related diseases (WRD) in Uzbekistan. It achieves this by unraveling the interconnections between socio-economic, institutional, ecological and epidemiological factors influencing WRD, and its link with the socio-political nature of health policy, often ignored in public health research. The project is fundamental, exploratory and attempts to explain health risk through a disciplinary and interdisciplinary research.

Tasks: – Literature review and internet research on a project related topics:
– Assist the project coordinator in administrative and financial management.
– Coordinate workshops and meetings with project partners.
– Periodic submission of reports and inputs for half-yearly newsletter.
