Masa Israel Journey connects Jewish young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 to take 5-12 month gap year, study abroad, post-college, volunteer and Jewish studies programs in nearly any field. All Masa Israel participants are eligible to apply for universal grants and needs-based scholarships. The amount available depends on applicant’s country of origin, their age and the program they attend. The Israel program begins on or before June 30, 2014 and after June 30, 2014. Requests for needs-based financial aidmust be submitted no later than 60 days before the program’s official start date.

Course Level: Through Masa Israel, applicants can take a gap year after high school, study abroad during college, or pursue graduate study, volunteer opportunities or professional internships in nearly any field. There are truly options for everyone.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a universal grant through Masa Israel Journey, you must:
-Be Jewish
-Be a graduate of a secondary school and/or between the ages of 18 and 30
-Not have Israeli citizenship or if you do, you must have left Israel before the age of 14 and have lived outside of Israel for at least four consecutive years prior to receiving your grant
-Have not been on an organized program (including an academic program) of more than four months in Israel since September 2004
-Have not spent 4 consecutive months or longer in Israel within the 24 month period prior to the start of your chosen Masa program after the age of 18.
Need Based Scholarships: Participants on Masa Israel-recognized programs of any length who fit the eligibility requirements listed above can apply for additional need-based financial aid depending on their country of origin and income.

Description: Masa Israel works to make it as easy as possible for young adults to go to Israel. We offer grants and scholarships to help make the experience more affordable, and collect information about other grants and scholarships available for long-term Israel programs from third party organizations. All Masa Israel participants are eligible to apply for universal grants and need-based awards towards the cost of your program. Your grant/support will be deducted from the total cost of your program. The amount available depends on your country of origin, age and the length of your program.

Duration of award(s): Masa Israel Journey connects Jewish young adults to 5-12 month gap year, study abroad, post-college, volunteer, and Jewish studies programs. If a program is shorter than ten months, the need-based support will be proportional to the length of the program.

What does it cover? All Masa Israel participants are eligible to apply for universal grants and needs-based scholarships. The amount available depends on your country of origin, your age and the program you attend. The Masa Israel scholarships include the following-
North America
Eligible gap year and study abroad participants automatically receive $1,000 and eligible participants over the age of 21 automatically receive $3,000 – $4,500 (depending on the length and cost of your program). Masa Israel also offers eligible participants up to $3,000 in additional needs-based scholarships.
Former Soviet Union (FSU)
Masa participants from the Former Soviet Union are eligible to apply for universal grants in the amount of up to $10,000 (depending on the length of your program).
Argentina
Masa participants from Argentina are eligible to apply for universal grants in the amount of up to $9,500 (depending on the length of your program).
Other countries
All Masa Israel participants are eligible to apply for universal grants and need-based awards. The amount available depends on your age: gap year and study abroad participants automatically receive $1,000 and participants over the age of 21 automatically receive $3,000 – $4,500 (depending on the length and cost of your program). Masa Israel also offers eligible participants needs-based financial aidof up to $10,000 (including the universal grant and depending on the length of your program).

Selection Criteria: The Masa Israel financial aid positions will be awarded on the basis of financial need.

How to Apply:
Step 1: Apply to your program: Apply through the application process of your chosen program. Each program has its own application requirements, which can usually be found on the program website or by contacting the program organizer.
Step 2: Apply for your Masa Israel grant and/or scholarship:
-Requests for grants, including all required documents, must be submitted no later than halfway through your program. Requests for needs-based financial aidmust be submitted no later than 60 days before the program’s official start date
-All Masa Israel participants are eligible to apply for universal grants and need-based awards towards the cost of the program. Once you know which program you will be participating in, apply for your grant and/or scholarship through website.
-Students whose Israel program begins on or before June 30, 2014 can apply online for 2013-2014 Masa Grant & Scholarship and whose Israel program begins after June 30th 2014 can apply online here for 2014 – 2015 Masa Grant & Scholarship.
-After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email. The email will include a PDF file of your application. Please verify that the information in the PDF file is correct. If changes need to be made please do not complete another form, just send the corrections to masainfo-at-masaisrael.org and they will make the changes.
