Scholarship Description: Scholarship arises from a fund established to commemorate the lively interest and contribution to music of Marion Rayward; teacher, student, music adviser, teachers’ college lecturer.Number of award (s): Up to one principal scholarship is available annually. To provide opportunity and encouragement for music teachers or music teachers in training to engage in study, research or practical work in music or other related spheres including music therapy, dance and movement.

Duration of award (s): The Scholarship is tenable for a period of one year in the New Zealand School of Music or in such other situations as the advisory committee may approve.

What does it cover? One principal scholarship is available annually and has a approximate value of $10,000. The value of the grants shall be determined by the advisory committee after consideration of the income of the fund. If in any year 80 percent of the income from the fund is not expended the balance may be used in a subsequent year or if the Professional Board so decides may be added to the capital fund.
