6 PhD Research Fellowships in Infectious Diseases of Poverty for ECOWAS Students Resident in Africa

Welcome trust project-call for applications for Six PhD Scholarship for  Citizens of  an ECOWAS country  Resideny  in West Africa

Study Subject:1. Applied social sciences (medical anthropology, health geography, health economics and social epidemiology);
2. Clinical and biological aspects of infectious diseases (parasitology, pathogenesis, molecular and cellular biology, vector biology and
control);
3. Pharmacology, including the development of novel therapeutics and diagnostics
4. Public health, epidemiology, parasitology and implementation research in tropical disease control.

Scholarship Description:The Institute for Infectious Diseases of Poverty/ Institut de Recherche sur les Maladies de la Pauvreté (IIDP/IRMP) is a consortium of Anglophone and Francophone multidisciplinary West African Institutions: University of Ghana (Ghana),University of Ibadan (Nigeria), l’Université de Bamako (Mali), Federal University of Technology, Yola (Nigeria) and l’Institut Universitaire d’Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire). Funded by the Wellcome Trust, it has the mission to develop the intellectual, regulatory and physical infrastructure required for the production of the high quality interdisciplinary science necessary to address the problems of Infectious Diseases of Poverty (IDPs). A core goal of IIDP/IRMP is to produce interdisciplinary research in biological, clinical and socio-cultural aspects of IDPs that supports regional disease control programmes.
Six (6) PhD studentships are available for candidates in the research disciplinary areas
