Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration Limited is delighted to announce its initiative offering up to two scholarships named ACICA Pacific Islands Practitioner Scholarship Program .

These scholarships provide an invaluable opportunity for legal practitioners from South Pacific jurisdictions to attend the prestigious ACICA & Ciarb Australia International Arbitration Conference and Australian Arbitration Week. Facilitated through the ACICA Education Fund Scholarship Program, this initiative aims to foster expertise in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and arbitration among practitioners in the Pacific Islands region.

The Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) serves as Australia’s premier institution for international dispute resolution. Established with the aim of facilitating efficient dispute resolution, ACICA annually hosts the Australian Arbitration Week (AAW) and the ACICA & Ciarb Australia International Arbitration Conference. AAW, scheduled for October 13 to 18, 2024, in Brisbane, gathers industry leaders and practitioners to address pertinent issues in arbitration and ADR on both national and global scales.

Eligibility

  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Applicants must be admitted as a lawyer/barrister in a South Pacific jurisdiction.
    • A minimum of 3 years post-admission experience is required.
    • Applicants must demonstrate an interest or practice in ADR and/or international arbitration through a short expression of interest statement.
    • Availability during the dates of Australian Arbitration Week for the relevant year must be confirmed.

How to Apply

Interested candidates for the 2024 scholarship cycle are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline on May 31, 2024. Applications will undergo review by the ACICA Education Fund Trustees based on specified criteria and required supporting documents. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for a web conference interview with the selection panel. Final decisions will be communicated within 8 weeks of the application deadline.
