AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students in USA

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants is offering 80 minority accounting scholarships in the USA. The aid amount is of up to $5,000 per academic year. The grant is a renewable award but students need to renew their Award and have to complete an application the following year. Students must enrol in undergraduate and graduate degree at four-year college or university in the USA. Students must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder). Students must also have maintained an overall and major GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

Eligibility

  • An underrepresented minority in the accounting profession (e.g., Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Native American; or Asian American)
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate (12 semester hours or equivalent) or a full-time graduate level student (9 semester hours or equivalent) for the 2013-14 academic year. (Note: an exception may be granted if you plan to participate in an internship
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in an “accounting-related” major. (“Accounting-related” shall be as determined by Sponsor in Sponsor’s sole discretion.)
  • Planning to pursue the CPA licensure but not presently be a CPA Completed at least 30 semester hours (or equivalent) of college coursework, including at least 6 semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting, by end of spring
  • Applied to or been accepted into a public or private, 501(c) four-year college or university located in the U.S. states or territories. The business program must be accredited by the AACSB and/or ACBSP.
  • Maintained an overall and major GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
    An AICPA student affiliate member (or have submitted a new member application).
  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) Some financial need (i.e., not receiving a full or partial award(s) and/or grant(s) that cover and/or exceed one’s educational expenses) Note: AICPA staff and their family members are not eligible to receive this application .

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: An underrepresented minority e.g., Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Native American; or Asian American can apply.

Duration of award(s): Recipients receive individual awards of up to $3,000 per academic year. The Minority award is a renewable award; however, renewals are neither automatic nor guaranteed. Students who wish to renew their Award must complete an application the following year.

What does it cover? Recipients receive individual awards of up to $5,000 per academic year. Scholarship aid may be used only for the payment of expenses that directly relate to obtaining an accounting education. Scholarship payments are sent directly to the student’s financial aid office on behalf of the student at the beginning of the fall and spring semester
