AREU Visiting Scholars Program for Afghan Students, 2017

Applications are invited for Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) Visiting Scholars Program. The program offers an opportunity for university professors, post-graduate students (Masters and PhD) and independent researchers whose research projects are relevant to any of AREU’s thematic areas.

Scholarships aim to encourage Afghanistan experts and scholars who are in the process of conducting their independent research.

The Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) is a premier, independent and impartial research organization based in Kabul. AREU was established in 2002 by the assistance of international community working in Afghanistan.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to University professors, post-graduate students (Masters and PhD) and independent researchers.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Natural Resource Management, Governance and Political Economy, Gender, Constitutional Law, Social Protection and Livelihoods.

Scholarship Award: Recipients of VSP will be provided with an office for a maximum of 3 months at AREU premises. They can use the organisation’s facilities, such as the library, and internet facility during office hours. Further, AREU will support in facilitating their meetings in Afghanistan.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • University professors, post-graduate students (Masters and PhD) and independent researchers whose research projects are relevant to any of AREU’s thematic areas:

  • Governance and Political Economy
  • Gender
  • Constitutional Law
  • Social Protection and Livelihoods

Nationality: Only Afghan students are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
