  • Eligible Countries: Nationals of Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Republic of Congo, Cote D’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia (including Somaliland), South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is open to candidates applying for any postgraduate taught master’s course at The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment.
  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Be a national of one of the approved Sub-Saharan African countries.
    • Must not hold a British or dual British citizenship.
    • Have an offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s course for the 2024-25 academic year, either unconditional or conditional only on English language assessment by April 3, 2024.
    • Demonstrate financial need as assessed by UCL.
    • Ideally meet at least one of the additional criteria: forced migrant, first generation in the family to attend university at the undergraduate level, or first generation in the family to attend university at the postgraduate level.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: You must first secure a place on a Bartlett Master’s course. Once you have an offer of a place, you can apply to The Bartlett Promise for a scholarship. The Bartlett Promise application form will open on 15 February 2024 and close on 3 April 2024 at 23.45 BST.
