Canon Collins Trust, in collaboration with the Sol Plaatje Educational Project, is currently accepting applications for postgraduate study opportunities in South Africa named as Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Postgraduate Scholarships for the academic session 2023-2024.

The study program will support both full and part-time Masters and PhD level study at a South African university and will consider applications from those who wish to study by distance learning.

  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Applicants can apply for a postgraduate degree programme those studying in three areas:1. Justice, which includes Climate Justice, Law, Economics and Politics
    2. Education policy and practice
    3. Humanities, which includes Literature, History, Anthropology and the Arts
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Be a national of, or have refugee status in, one of the following countries: Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe
  • Be normally resident in one of the above countries
  • Be in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application
  • Be studying or applying to study at a South African university.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Students are required to submit an application for their postgraduate study in a South African University. A scholarship application can be submitted here.

  • Certified academic transcripts

  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or are about to graduate in the year of application.
  • Language Requirement: The students must meet the language requirements of the university they wish to join.

The selected candidates will be provided the value of the scholarship package will range from R20,000 to R100,000 depending on student circumstances.
