Cardiff University British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, UK

Cardiff University, in collaboration with the British Council, is proud to offer five fully funded scholarships for women from eligible countries to pursue a one-year master’s degree in STEM.

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be women (cis-gendered or trans) or identify as non-binary and be passport holders and permanent residents of eligible countries. They must have an undergraduate degree relevant to their chosen master’s programme, demonstrate financial need, and meet the English language requirements of Cardiff University.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Women from the following countries can apply:
  • Albania
  • Azerbaijan
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing a master’s degree in the following subject areas at Cardiff University:
  • Architecture: MSc Environmental Design of Buildings, MA Urban Design
  • Chemistry: MSc Medicinal Chemistry, MSc Chemistry for Sustainability
  • Computer Science: MSc Computing, MSc Computing and IT Management, MSc Artificial Intelligence, MSc Natural Language Processing
  • Earth and Environmental Sciences: MSc Environmental Hazards and Disaster Risk Reduction, MSc Water, Sustainability, and Climate Change
  • Engineering: MSc Building and Infrastructure Information Modelling (BIM) for Smart Engineering, MSc Civil Engineering, MSc Civil and Geoenvironmental Engineering, MSc Engineering Net Zero, MSc Structural Engineering, MSc Sustainable Energy and Environment
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Identify as a woman (cis-gender or trans) or non-binary
  • Be a passport holder and permanent resident of an eligible country
  • Hold an undergraduate degree relevant to the chosen postgraduate programme
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have not previously studied or lived in the UK at degree level or higher
  • Not be receiving financial support from other sources
  • Meet the English language requirements of the selected programme
  • Commit to returning to their home country for at least two years after completing their studies
  • Show engagement in STEM-related work, research, or initiatives
  • Demonstrate a plan to inspire and support other women in STEM
  • Agree to share personal data with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the programme

Applicants are not eligible if they:

  • Hold dual British citizenship
  • Have previously studied in the UK with UK government funding
  • Are employees (or relatives of employees) of the UK government or the British Council.
