The university provides modern educational and research environments that will enable students and researchers to face current challenges and to focus on knowledge as a principle driving force for development.

Since the language of instruction at French universities and colleges is French, applicants are required to prove their level of command of the French language. If they are enrolling in the first or second year of a study program at the university in France, they must prove they have the adequate level of knowledge of French by either passing a language test or by obtaining a degree in French.

Course Level: Fellowship is available to pursue PhD program.

Study Subject: Fellowship is offered in Computational Mechanics and Materials.

PhD Thesis: Numerical simulation of solidification experiments for levitated steel samples, on ground and in the international space station.

Thesis work description:

The numerical model developed at CEMEF requires improvements, including

  • – the role of the interfacial tension between the liquid and the air,
  • – surface-tension induced convection,
  • – coupling with multicomponent microsegregation models,
  • – decoupling of the dynamic of the metal-gas boundary in the solid-gas and liquid-gas interfaces,
  • – description of the solidification structure,
  • – development of accurate numerical methods for the solution of transport equations.

This work could be part of the improvements of TherCast, the software solution for casting developed with partner TRANSVALOR
