CHORI Summer Student Research Program In USA, 2021

Applications are invited for the Summer Research Program to provide basic and clinical research training opportunities for High School and Undergraduate students. The undergraduate student program is 9 weeks and the high school program is 20 weeks in length.

Students in good standing (typically 3.0 or better GPA) with an interest in the health sciences and High school students in their junior or senior year, with at least one, completed a year in math and biology Undergraduate students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program are eligible to apply.

The program is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. Funding is also received through anonymous donors.

Eligibility

  • Students in good standing (typically 3.0 or better GPA) with an interest in the health sciences
  • High school students in their junior or senior year, with at least one, completed a year in math and biology Undergraduate students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program.
  • Students considered Under-Represented in the sciences
  • Students must be citizens or non-citizen nationals of the United States or must have been lawfully admitted for permanent residency (i.e., in possession of the Alien Registration Receipt Card I-551 or I-151) at the time of application. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible. Those not eligible to apply for a stipend according to these criteria can choose to apply as a volunteer.

Internship Open for International Students: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply for this internship.

Is this a paid internship? Yes, all selected eligible students will receive a stipend during their participation. Stipends vary by student type and granting agency. Once selected, these details will be sent to you by email, and you will have the opportunity to either accept or reject the program offer.

Internship Duration: The undergraduate student program is 9 weeks, typically from the second week of June through the second week of August. The high school program is 20 weeks in length; part-time after school one day per week from March to June, then full time typically from the second week of June through the second week of August.

Notification: High School Award notification will be in the final week of February and undergraduate award notification will be announced in final week of March.
