The Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research (CIDER) at the University of Cape Town School of Public Health, in partnership with the Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) is offering Postdoctoral Research Fellowship HIV-exposed uninfected child health outcomes.
The purpose of the award is to support a postdoctoral fellow who will be required to join CIDER. Together with the CIPHER HEU Child Project Team led by Dr. Mary-Ann Davies, with support from CIDER data managers and statisticians, the post-doctoral fellow will undertake research including a systematic review of HEU child outcomes.
The overarching aims of IeDEA-SA are to conduct clinical, epidemiological and health services research in order to provide answers to the questions that clinicians, programs and ministries of health consider fundamental to HIV care and treatment strategies in Southern Africa; to inform HIV/AIDS, TB, cancer and mental health service delivery in the region, to increase the capacity for delivering antiretroviral therapy (ART), and, ultimately, to improve the prognosis of people living with HIV and AIDS in Southern Africa.

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A PhD obtained no more than 5 years ago in Epidemiology/Statistics/Public Health or cognate discipline from a recognised institution.
- Proven analytic skills and experience analyzing and writing up results for peer-reviewed publication in the field of HIV including PMTCT, ideally with a paediatric focus.
- Experience in collaborating with different research teams is an advantage.
- Resident of a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) with a demonstrated commitment to working in a LMIC after the fellowship period.
English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
