2015 Cross-Culture Internships Programme For Study In Germany

Applications are invited for CrossCulture Internships funding programme for 2015 academic year. Young professionals and voluntary engaging persons can apply for the Cross-Culture Internships 2015. Regional particularities are taken into account through the subdivision into three regional modules: South Asia, Central Asia and Other Islamic countries (particularly in the Middle East, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula). Target groups in the Islamic countries are young professionals and volunteers in various areas of civil society and multipliers in reform relevant organisations and media. For German candidates, the target groups are employees of the corresponding host organisations as well as young professionals and volunteers committed to fields of work in which intercultural experience is crucial.

Eligibility: Requirements for taking part in the CrossCulture Internships programme include a good command of English and a permanent involvement in an organisation or institution in one’s own country. Knowledge of the German language is an additional qualification, not a requirement. Applicants should be aged between 23 to 45 years. Currently enrolled university students will not be considered for selection. Furthermore the applicants must be in good health. Their physical as well as mental working capacity must be sufficient for the requirements of a longer stay abroad and the essential work requirements of the internship.

Is this paid internship? –For participants from Germany: visa fee, health insurance, travel costs round trip, a monthly grant of 1.100 Euro, accommodation and public transport at destination to be organized and paid by participant
-For participants from abroad: visa fee, health insurance, travel costs round trip, a monthly grant of 550 Euro, urban public transport at destination and accommodation.

Internship Description: With its Cross-Culture Internships funding programme, the ifa (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations) is advocating intercultural exchange and the strengthening of networks between Germany and Islamic world as a partner of the German Federal Foreign Office.  The programme enables internships for young professionals and volunteers from the participating countries and from Germany. International experience is gained and intercultural competence developed through work stays in another culture. Cross-Culture internships open up and strengthen the exchange between people, institutions and cultures and thus enable an enhanced partnership between Germany and Islamic countries.

Internship Duration: The internship is offered from a minimum of eight weeks to a maximum of three months.

Notification: The nomination of the participants will be announced in April. Letters of refusal will be sent without further explanations in May.

How to Apply: The application form consists of two parts: Part one to be filled in and signed by the applicant. Part two (recommendation) to be filled in and signed by the applicant’s home organisation. The filled in and signed application forms (part one and two) are submitted via e-mail.
