Edward James Foundation Bursaries at West Dean College in UK, 2014

West Dean College is offering bursaries for UK students who have accepted a place to study at West Dean and who can demonstrate a clear financial need. Awards are given based on individual need, with the most common award being under £5,000. In exceptional circumstances the Committee may award up to a maximum value of £9,000. Preference will be given to students who show that they are pursuing all possible avenues for raising the funds they will need, including applying to other grant-making trusts, part-time /holiday work, loans and so on.

Study Subject(s): Bursaries are awarded for graduate and postgraduate diploma and MA in Conservation (including Metalwork, Books, Ceramics, Furniture and Clocks); postgraduate diploma, MA and MFA in Visual Art (with specialism available in Painting and Drawing, Sculpture or Tapestry and Textile Art).
Course Level: Bursaries are available for pursuing any programme offered by West Dean College.

Eligibility: Applications to the Edward James Foundation Bursary Fund can be made by anyone who has accepted a place to study at West Dean and who can demonstrate a clear financial need. Preference will be given to students who show that they are pursuing all possible avenues for raising the funds they will need, including applying to other grant-making trusts, part-time /holiday work, loans and so on. Preference will also be shown to students that the Grants Committee believes have the potential to make a long-lasting contribution to their chosen field. All bursary-funded students will be expected to agree to terms and conditions. These seek the student’s support in acting as an advocate for the College during the time they are at West Dean, and for two years afterwards e.g. by attending a small number of promotional events such as a talk to potential new students (costs of these activities will be covered by the College).

Scholarship Description: Bursaries for students in need are offered via the Edward James Foundation Bursary Fund. The Fund is financed by donations both from the Edward James Foundation itself and supplemented by other organisations and individuals who make donations or leave bequests to support students.
